The currency of United States is the US Dollar (USD).

Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in United States. As in the rest of North America, Visa and MasterCard are universally accepted and American Express is less widely accepted. Smaller businesses often accept only cash.

ATMs are plentiful in San Diego, and are the easiest source of cash. The exchange rate that banks use for ATM withdrawals is normally better than the ‘tourist rate’ for currency exchange.

Please contact your bank and let them know you will be traveling to United States. Credit or debit cards with suspicious purchases outside of your home country may be seen as suspect, leading to suspension or cancellation of your cards.
